Matt Davis founded Life Stage Films four years ago, and is based in Wilmington, NC. His background is actually in missions work, as him and his wife actually lived in Mexico as missionaries when they had the vision to start their video business. Not planning to fall into weddings, he fell in love with the powerful impact video can have on families.
Recognizing the need for stylistic and modern visual story-telling, Matt likes to step away from the typical wedding video and create a fresh, edgy, and entertaining recount of a wedding day. But his thriving motivation in his career is to be a business owner first, and an artist, second. And the things he has learned in growing a profitable full time business in a recession without another source of income has given him a passion to share with the rest of the video industry how fun owning a business can actually be, instead of just working in it.
Matt is a multi-year WEVA CEA winner, and was named one of the top 25 event filmmakers in the world in 2010 by EventDV Magazine. Speaking at WEVA 2009, In[Focus] 2010 and WEVA 2010, he is also dubbed the “Head Coach of Wedding Videography” and provides business coaching webinars for videographers all over the world. Although he gets much joy from having happy clients, nothing is more rewarding to him than giving back to the video industry and doing his part to make it a better place to make a living.
